IYGOADTW: Project Hail Mary, Justin Timberlake's Arrest, and Chappell Roan

If you're going on a date this week, here are a few things that you could talk about. Welcome to my new show, If You're Going on a Date This Week. I wanted to start this because I think one of the hardest, most anxiety-inducing parts of dating is what to talk about and what to say and what questions to ask.

So I thought it would be a fun idea each week, maybe twice a week. I'm thinking on Monday and Thursday. It might also just be once a week on Wednesday. I'm going to play around with it and see what works best to talk about what is going on in the world of pop culture, of movies, of music, of media, of sports, of entertainment, of really anything that's going on in the world that would be fun conversation topics to talk about on your date.

Things that you might want to know about that the other person is thinking about or watching or listening to or reading or talking to their friends about things that it would just be good to be informed on or would just like be nice to be informed on. There's so much that goes on in the world all the time in movies and music and media and pop culture and sports and all these different areas that it's really hard to keep up. So I thought

because that is one of my talents to keep up with all of this and it's just one of the things I love to do. It's like one of my hobbies to keep up with what's going on in the world and talk about it and share my thoughts and my perspective on it. I thought it would be fun to kind of aggregate all of that into a new show, into kind of like a weekly, bi-weekly episode where I talk about what's going on in the world of those types of topics, of the topics that like would be fun to talk about, would be fun fodder, just like things that you can

bring up and they'd be like, how do you know that? And you'd be like, oh, I listened to this podcast or how do you know that? Like, oh, I'm like, that's, what's going on. Like not even things that somebody would be like, I'm turning the microphone up a little bit because I think it's a little quiet. Not even things that somebody would be like, how do you know that things that like, just might be nice to know about and be like, yeah, I know that Harry Styles had a new album. Like I think it's good. I like this song. Or I listened to a couple of the tracks. Like, what do you like about it? Or do you like Harry Styles or like one direction? Like just being able to be informed on all these things, it would be nice. And I think it is a kind of a fun idea for a podcast.

So I'm calling it, if you're going on a date this week, because I think it kind of encapsulates what the purpose is, alternate title, what's on the table. It might be changing, it's subject to change, but as of right now, it's called what, if you're going on a date this week, because it's a segment that I've done on my Instagram. It's my Instagram called guyset podcast and TikTok, the guyset. I also have a podcast called guyset where,

I answer the questions that guys are asking and that is where this idea stemmed from because I've been thinking of a way or trying to find a way to incorporate all of this into guyset and I kind of think it's separate thing. So it may end up being part of it. It may not be a maybe its own show. And as of right now it is it is called if you're going on a date this week here is what you could talk about.

And I also think that like first dates are supposed to be light and fun. Like they're not supposed to be that serious. They're not supposed to be any like earth shattering conversation that you have with this person. Like you're just trying to get to know them, get to see if you like their vibe, see if you want to hang out with them again, see if they're somebody that you could potentially be a match for or like want to see more often and actually like hang out with and see yourself talking to them more and get to know them more. So

The purpose is just to get to know somebody and see if you like their vibe. And that is why I think some of these topics that aren't that serious are good things to talk about. Like they're just fun, nothing burger topics. Like they're not that important. They're not going to change anybody's lives, but they're fun to talk about. And they're easy ways to see if you have common interests and like common things and have interests that overlap or just know what the other person is watching or thinking about or talking about. So

If you're going on a date this week, here is what you could talk about. And of course these topics can also be brought into your work and with your friends. And if you've been dating somebody for a long time, like they're just good topics to talk about. So, you can talk about them wherever it's not just for dates, but I think it's a fun talk. It's a fun name because, it's the purpose is it's just like, here is what the girl you're seeing or the guy you're seeing might be talking about or thinking about or looking at or watching. So.

If you're going on a date this week, here is what you could talk about. Project Hail Mary is like the biggest movie in the world. and the way I'll do it is I'll, I'll just like literally go from topic to topic of what has happened in the past couple of days. So I'll do it Monday and I'll do Thursday and in the timestamps below, you can find everything I've talked about. So you can skip around. You can like click on the topic you're most interested in and I'll try and give some sort of like recap of what this thing is. And then I'll also probably give my thoughts and my perspective because I

probably won't be able to avoid it. And I think it's fun. and I'll try and keep the episode short and sweet. Like the goal is that you could listen to this on the way to your date or while you're getting ready for your date. like 15 to 20 minutes at max for most of these episodes. Okay. So project Hail Mary is the biggest movie in the world. It's starring Ryan Gosling and basically only Ryan Gosling. I read the book. It's incredible. If you're looking for a good book or audio book.

Apparently the audiobooks amazing. It's like read by this like audiobook extraordinaire guy. But the book itself is really, really good. I saw the movie on Monday. I went to an early screening of it. I got like an email through Fandango and it was like, Hey, if you're an Amazon Prime member, you can go to the movie earlier. I was like, fuck yeah. So I went to the movie. It was really, really, really, really good. I think everybody will like it, especially if you haven't read the book. I think if you read the book, you'll feel a little bit more like they missed some stuff from the book, but that's just how anybody that reads a book feels about the movie adaption they make.

If you haven't read the book, you're really going to love it. It's honestly much more family friendly than I thought it was going to be. I kind of thought it was me more like an interstellar type movie. And it is like the visuals, the score. It's a cinematic experience. Like if you can go see it in the theater because you're going to love it. Like truly it's very funny. It's for everybody. It's just really, really good. I'm not going to spoil it. I'm not going to say anything more about it. If you haven't seen the trailer.

Go in blind, like it's really fun to go into that experience blind and not know what's coming or what he's gonna see when he goes to space. Like obviously you know that he's gonna go to space. That's like the main plot, but you don't know what else is gonna happen. And it's just, I was at the edge of my seat for a good portion of it. And it's an amazing experience. Go with friends, go with your girlfriend, go with your boyfriend, go with your parents, go with whoever. Like Project El Mary was really great. So that's the first thing.

Next, there is a massive secret lives of Mormon wives controversy with the main star of the show. Her name is Taylor, Frankie Paul. The show has been running for like four seasons. If you don't know what this is, it's a Bravo show. It's actually, I don't even think it's a Bravo show. It's a show on one of the channels. It's about the lives of Mormon wives. And it started because the one girl Taylor was swinging with her friend and they're both their husbands. so they were like hooking up with the, with each other. And that's how the show started. Like that is like.

like the first two episodes. don't know, I haven't watched it, but this is what I've understood from it. And now Taylor, Frankie, Paul, who's the main girl who was also slated to be the bachelorette, like the show, the bachelorette bachelor, bachelorette, that show was fully filmed, like about to air in the upcoming weeks. And a video came out that supposedly her ex husband do the who she has a kid with. I don't know. It's really complicated, but like I'm trying to give you my summation of it.

I never said I never claimed to have all the facts or the information that this is just like a here's what's happening from my perspective. It may not be fully informed, but it's it's better than what you'll get. Otherwise, I think maybe not. I don't know. But the her ex boyfriend, ex husband released a video of her being really physically abusive toward him. And it's just a terrible video. Like she throws a bunch of chairs. Her kid gets hit in the it's it's not good. It's really, really bad. And

the show, the network, it was ABC, not Bravo, ABC. So Disney who owns ABC pulled the show. So they canceled the whole season of The Bachelorette, which like has never happened before. It's kind of unprecedented. They're to lose like $50 million or some shit. So that's an insane story. If the girl you're seeing or your girlfriend watches Zika lives more wives, there's that.

Next, there is a bunch of like festivals happening right now. So Sabrina Carpenter is headlining. It's like I think it's Lollapalooza. It's Lollapalooza in São Paulo, which I believe is in Brazil. I mean, this is like a terrible idea. I'm just saying all these wrong facts. Probably. I think it's in Brazil. Hold on. Is São Paulo in Brazil?

Yes. I thought it was going to speak to me. Yes. It's a city in Brazil. Fuck. Yeah. I got that right. It's actually the cap. The capital of South Palo is in Brazil. I don't know. Um, and also Argentina, um, and then chapel Rhone is also performing there and, a pretty famous soccer players, wife and daughter who also happens to be the daughter of Jude Law. Uh, so it's the wife's child from before and the soccer players, the stepdad, uh, Jude Law, famous actor from like the holiday, you, know, if you saw him, you know him.

They, staying at the same hotel as chapel rhone and the daughter like walked by chapel rhone and just like one to get like a closer look, make sure it was her and the security guard of chapel rhone who chapel rhone now says was not her security guard was maybe the hotel security guard. Who knows? he went up to the kid and the, the kid and the mom and like screamed at them and was like, you cannot do that. Like, and made the daughter cry and the soccer player went on his Instagram story and fully blasted chapel rhone to his like 4 million followers.

And literally every media outlet picked this story up and Chapelrone responded on her Instagram story and was saying that like she would never yell at a kid like she loves kids, she doesn't hate kids. It's just like a crazy story. But this is not the first time that Chapelrone has just like gotten under fire for like fan encounters. But it does sound like she's also experiencing just like a bad bout of like bad experiences that are culminating in her not looking great but don't also seem to be her fault. I don't know.

It's just, Chappellrone is also headlining this festival. So that's that to know. And she's gotten in, embroiled in this mother kid situation. Justin Timberlake got arrested a while ago and the body cam footage from the cops is now released and it's just like.

going crazy across the internet. It's him like absolutely looking like a fucking drunk fool idiot. And it's him doing like, know, the test where you have to like walk one foot in front of the other when you're drunk, like the, the, the one test everyone knows he starts doing it and he goes, wow, like you guys, these tests are like really hard. And then he gets arrested and he's like trying to figure out like what to fill out. And he's like, white, like, do I fill out white for my ethnicity?

And then he's there's a video of him like going into the cell and he's like I'm staying here tonight like it's just an Embarrassing night that like he will have to relive forever and will probably be like a big stain on his legacy This is gonna ruin the tour The Hannah Montana reunion the 20th reunion is on Thursday this coming Thursday Miley Cyrus is doing a sit-down interview with Alex Cooper of call her daddy and

doing like a 20th anniversary, she's gonna sing the Climb, she's gonna do a couple other songs. It's gonna be big, everybody's gonna be talking about it, now you know about it. And then last but not least, Alex Earl has a new brand that she's promoting. People think it's skincare, people aren't sure what it is, but she's launching it probably tomorrow. So just something to be aware of. You probably don't even know that, and now you do. And that is it. So those are the stories. They're quick, they're now things that you know that you probably

maybe didn't want to know or you did and now you're informed. And my goal for these episodes is just to like give you a little rundown of what is going on, what's happening. Ray R-A-Y-E just did a collab with Hans Zimmer, which is fucking insane. And it's really good.

And then speaking of Hans Zimmer the Dune 3 trailer came out and it looks unbelievable Of course it dropped the day after timothy shalime lost the Oscar and is just like Villain arc incoming like you thought he was done you thought he was down. Well, here comes Paul fucking atreides I can't wait for that movie December 18th this year the first trailer teaser trailer looks unbelievable It also came out the same day that I sat near Anya Taylor Joy

and Tom Holland at a Broadway show that I got invited to. was dog day afternoon and Tom Holland was there supporting John Bernthal who is in Daredevil in the Spider-Man a brand new day trailer that's that just also released the same day as Dune or the day before. Insane trailer releases Dune 3, Spider-Man brand new day. I can't wait for both of those movies. Those are also things to be aware of.

and industry analysis analysts compare their return to Elvis Presley's post army comeback. So that's gonna be huge actually that's big news. And they just released a new single.
