TRANSCRIPT
If you're going on a date this week, here are a few things that you could talk about. Welcome back to my new show. If you're going on a date this week, where I talk about what is going on in the world so that you can be informed on so many different topics that your date may be watching, maybe listening to, maybe reading about probably not reading about probably watching on Tik TOK or watching somewhere else, but just so that you can.
stay up to date, be informed and maybe even bring some of these conversation topics or at least know what's going on when your date talks about it so that you can either talk about it, that you can be informed, that you can like have a conversation. And for the most part, like first dates are really just a way to get to a time to get to know people. Like they're just a moment for you to be like, do I like this person? Do I want to hang out with them again? Do I want to see them again?
They're not that deep. And that is why I think knowing some of these conversation topics and having something to say or something to talk about is always a good thing. One of the hardest parts of a first date is knowing what to talk about or what questions to ask. So by being able to be like, do you like the movie project? Tell Mary, you're going to see it or do you like the new Harry Styles album? Like they're like, oh, wow. You know that like, wow. So it gives you just like a little bit of a leg up. It gives you a little bit of a
industry knowledge, if you will. So I will every Monday and Thursday, this is the second ever episode of the podcast. If you're going to date this week, I will bring all of the conversation topics. Everything that I think is going on in pop culture, in movies and music and sports and entertainment in just all these kinds of different worlds and bring them together because I think it's fun to do. I've been doing it on Instagram for like a year and tick tock for like a year or two.
And I think people really like it. I really like it. And I thought it'd really fun to bring it into long form and share my opinions a little bit more deeply so that you can either agree or disagree and inform your own opinion based on them. So if you're going on a date this week, here is what you could talk about. So, the.
Josh Felgoise (02:14.424)
And some of these stories, by the way, will be continuations from Monday's episode. Like not that that much happens between the week, but like there's always new things going on. There's always new things happening. And I just think that two a week makes more sense. And then I can also give like a little bit more of an informed opinion. The Monday ones you can use for your like, I don't know. I feel like a lot of the time dates happen on like Wednesday, Thursday, a first or second date. And then the more you get to see somebody, maybe it's like on the weekend. So I feel like having two a week makes more sense. That's why I'm doing it two times a week.
I also think it's really fun. So I'm having a good time doing this. So the first topic is the Hannah Montana 20th anniversary. They're calling it the Han-a-versary. I'd probably get shot if I didn't say the Han-a-versary. So the 20th Han-a-versary where Miley Cyrus premiered it on Tuesday night and like some of the old cast members, Jason Earls, Rico. Some of those other cast members came back.
Notably Emily Osment and Mitchell Musso were missing not in attendance at the premiere or involved in the anniversary Emily Osment who played Lily? I'm sure you know Hannah Montana by the way like you might be like I don't know you know Hannah Montana like come on we all know Hannah Montana and They were not they weren't at the premiere Emily said that she was filming her show George and Mandy which is the spin-off of young Sheldon Amazing show by the way everybody should watch young Sheldon It's like a feel-good type show like shrinking by the way, which I just started the third season
I couldn't recommend it more like it's one of those feel good shows that you might at first be like, like, don't know if like this feels like a little corny, like it might be like a little like family friendly. Nope. No, like you're gonna laugh out loud and you're gonna cry in every single episode. So you should watch Shrinking. just a good TV recommendation I have for you. That might just happen here too. I might slip those in. but anyway, the 20th anniversary happened 20th anniversary happened.
And it's premiered on Disney Plus. Miley Cyrus talked about that she was in a like one week relationship with Dylan Sprouse from Swiff of Zack and Cody. And then just like other funny like little tidbits. She talked about how Taylor Swift wrote the final song for the movie. So if you're going on a date this week, your girlfriend or the girl you're seeing or whoever is probably watching it or talked about it or is talking about it or wants to watch it. So now you know about that one. The next one is.
Josh Felgoise (04:28.038)
The continuation of the chapel rone and the soccer player saga. talked about it in the last episode. she has kind of taken the internet by storm. Like I have never seen Twitter be so funny about like anything like they are losing their minds and like tick tock everybody over the fact that chapel rone kind of like didn't apologize to the kid and was just, I guess she did. She was just like, I'm sorry. Basically just like as a recap to the story.
Chapel Rhone is under fire because a little fan met her at or like walked by her breakfast table at the hotel that they're both staying at. And the security guard came over and like berated them and was just like, do not do that to people like you to just like freaked out at them. the girl was crying. Chapel was like rolling around in her bed, like on Instagram live or her Instagram story being like, I didn't know about that security guard. Like, I'm sorry to the fan. Like she could have easily probably just been like, I'm so sorry to that fan. Like
I would love to meet you and say hi and apologize. Like here are two tickets to my show. Like my team will be in touch, but no, she was just kind of like, yeah, like, sorry that happened. Like that's not my security. Like that was the breakfast security. Like then like rolled back over. So the continuation of that is just like everybody online, similar to like the Timothy Chalamet ballet and opera drama is just like taking it and running with it as I think they should. Like it's just a kind of a funny moment to run with. so the memes, the videos of like,
Chapel Road meeting a fan are just out of control hysterical. The next one is the secret lives of Mormon wives controversy. I talked about that one on Monday as well. Since then another one of the Mormon wives her name is Jessie. She actually follows me on TikTok. So shout out to Jessie. I don't watch the show. I don't even know the show but I like searched her and it said follow back and I was like holy shit. Hey she went on call her daddy to talk about her divorce. I can't speak on this because I don't know anything about any of people.
but that's just also something that you could know. Alex Earl, the probably biggest influencer in the world, launched her skincare brand. It's called Real Actives. Real is like a play on her last name, R-E-A-L-E, Actives, Real, Real Actives. She launched a skincare brand and it's probably shaping up to be like a massive, massive business. And if you don't know about it right now, you're probably gonna know about it at some point in the future.
Josh Felgoise (06:51.118)
she has kind of like taken her career in such an incredible trajectory. Like what started out as a Miami party girl, just like posting tick tocks and just like showing off like what she was getting ready and like has turned into going to be like a conglomerate. Like she's going to have such success and already has one set. She has 5 million followers on tick tock, like to get 5 million followers on any platform. I she was like four. Let's, let's check her numbers.
Let's do the audit. The Alex Earl audit. Here we go. Alex Earl. She has five million dollars on Instagram. Like that's insane. And the brand already has over 500,000 followers. So it's going to be an insane, insane brand. Like I think it's going to be massive. Yeah. She was on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show last night. So it's just, it's huge. She's here. She is on Tik Tok today. Ready for the announcement.
I don't know why I'm showing you this, that's Alex Earl. You know who that is. I feel like everybody knows who that is. Everybody and their mother. sorry. Here's another one. yeah. So that's something else you could talk about or you could know be like, Hey, did you see Alex Earl's brand launch? Like, what do you think? Like, are you gonna buy the skincare products? What do you, also like the purpose of this, which I should have said earlier is that like each one of these topics you can use as a transition into another conversation. And like you should use as like a
Starting ground like for the Hannah Montana one. I wish I could have gone back and just said this differently Maybe I'll redo the whole thing. No, I probably won't but for the Hannah and hammer for the Hannah Montana one This is like the perfect opportunity to be like one other like what were your favorite TV shows as a kid? Like did you watch Drake and Josh? Did you watch with us acting Cody likes really fun deck? like what did you like to watch because like And then you could share your personal favorites. Like I think that just like snowballs into
a really great conversation to get to know somebody or get to know like a little bit about them. That is what I think a first date should be like made of. I don't think you need to know everything about them. think getting to know their favorite TV shows or what they like or what they watch is just a great way to start getting to know somebody and see if you like their vibe and you like them and you want to see them again. That also can lead into like what TV shows are you watching now or like what is on your watch list? What do you want to watch? Like
Josh Felgoise (09:11.923)
What are the things that, um, you've always wanted to watch that you just like never got to, or like, what's a show that you could watch again and again? Like those are all just great, kind of like snowball questions and topics to go from, from any of these conversations or any of these like kind of points. So having one or two of these in your back pocket that you can just like bring back up and be like, Oh, I saw that Miley Cyrus is having a whole Hannah Montana reunion. Like, are you going to watch that? I saw it on whatever. And so probably be like, yeah, like Miley Cyrus is everything to me. Like I love Hannah. Like I am Hannah Montana.
No, she will probably say yes, and then that just like leads into a great conversation Same with like the chapel rhone one like you could just be like Yeah, like what do you think like do you like her music like who are your favorite artists? What music do you listen to what music are you looking forward to coming out soon? Like that just it's a really good way and a place to be in a in a date in a date setting Same with the Alex Earl one like like I don't know Maybe that one's harder like be talking about like the skincare. Don't talk about skincare
But I think that's just something to know. You could have like business and like marketing and all that stuff. the next one is that Travis Kelsey signs a three year contract worth nearly $60 million with the Kansas city chiefs. I think it was $57 million and it's dependent on each year's performance. So like if he performs better, he makes more money. I didn't really read the full thing, but I know that like each year it's like 15 mil or something like that.
Which is one of the highest contracts for a tight end in the NFL? Pretty fucking impressive, but I think like also he brings so Many viewers like so much. was so much viewership to the NFL To the games like I think I think like the effect of Taylor Swift on the NFL cannot be underestimated or understated Like people tune into the Chiefs games because of her to see what she's wearing to see her in the box
And I think that's probably part of the contract. I don't know. I don't know to be sure, but that's just my understanding. So I think you could talk about that and be like, Oh, like, do you like Tara Swift? That's just like, there you go. Boom. Done. Do like Tara Swift? Of course she Tara Swift. Every girl likes Tara Swift. The next one is, um, Charlie Puth had a baby. I don't think anybody cares about that one, but I do. I care. I care very much. Charlie Puth had a baby and named it Jude and on his Instagram post put the song, Hey Jude.
Josh Felgoise (11:32.497)
Don't make it bad. Take a sad song. Whoa. I kind of hit that. So yeah, Jude Charlie poops, poops Charlie poops named Jude. And then in some movie news, the 13 going on 30 movie is getting a reboot on Netflix with Logan Lerman and the girl who was in the movie that just came out.
called the people we meet on vacation. think her name is Emily Henry. So she is in movie with Logan Lerman. And yeah, that's also something to be aware of something to know about you could talk. I think that's a good one. Like I think you could be like, I just saw that this movie is getting rebooted. Like have you seen this movie? And she'll probably be like, yeah, because I feel like all every girl has probably seen that movie. And then you can be like, what's your favorite old movies? Like what's your comfort movie? What movie do you watch when you're sick? Like what, what is a movie that you could watch again and again? What's movie you want to go see like?
Have you heard of that new movie with Zendaya and Robert Pattinson? Oh, that's something else. That movie is coming out next week. It's called the drama. I was just invited to premiere from a 24. can't go. Unfortunately, I'm so, so, so bummed that I can't go, but that is coming out next Friday. Zendaya, Robert Pattinson. I feel like that's going to be like a huge movie, a 24. Um, so yeah, something else that you could talk about movies, TV shows, always just good conversation topics, good things too. And like very easy flowy conversation topics.
And then at the end of each of these episodes, I'm also going to share three to five questions that you can ask on your date this week that aren't really related to pop culture that just are three questions you can ask. Keep one or two of these in your back pocket. That's what I always say as like a fallback. If you have nothing to say, if you run out of anything to say, like you can always say these topics or always just like to keep one of these questions near you to be like, hey, like what's your favorite movie you've seen recently? That's the first one I want to say.
The second one is what is your favorite childhood movie? And I think you can say any of these at any time by the way like they don't think they have to be like in the conversation You could just be like what's your childhood movie? Like it doesn't have it doesn't doesn't it doesn't have to sound like a work interview But it also doesn't have to sound like you're not you know like at the same time you're just getting to this person You don't know anything about them So you're trying to get to know them and the only way to get to know them is to ask questions The next one is a TV show reunion that you would love to see I'm based this one
Josh Felgoise (13:53.369)
on the Hannah Montana anniversary one. I think that this is a great conversation topic to be like, what TV show do you want to see them have a reunion for? Like, what is your favorite show that you think everybody would come together? Like my answer to that would probably be like Parks and Rec. Like I would love Amy Poehler to host a Parks and Rec reunion on her podcast, Good Hang. I feel like that would be so sick and they all get along really well and like everybody's at such different and also insane.
Moments in their career where they're all super successful, but like at different times and at different things They're all doing different projects So to hear them all talk about it and get back together like get the gang back together would be so awesome The next one is what is your favorite snack food or you could also this could just like parlay into the movie question What snack do you buy at the movies like are you a popcorn person? Are you a candy person? What's your favorite candy to drink at the movies? Are you an icy or a diet coke person just water bland boring like
That's a good one. And then a favorite book that you've read recently or ever like if they haven't read anything and you don't want to put them in like a weird spot They're like, I don't really read then you're like, I gotta go or you're into that. I don't care. It doesn't not up to me I think that's another good question So those are just five questions that you can ask about anything that often like to pop culture Don't relate to anything going on in the world just good things to say and easy Conversation topics to get the ball rolling and get the conversation going
And then as my final segment of the episode, I'm just going to go through and see what I missed because a lot of the times when I do these episodes, a lot happens that I didn't write down. So let me just search. and I'm gonna do this probably every time, just like search pop culture news and see if there's anything new in the world that, is worth hearing about. Here we go.
A jury has found that meta and YouTube are negligent in a lawsuit concerning social media safety. That doesn't sound good. And like seriously nothing else. I think I hit it all. That is the power of, this is big actually. Huge news. The Harry Potter TV show just got its first trailer. It's coming out December of this year. That's a pretty quick turnaround time.
Josh Felgoise (16:01.447)
They're doing a season per movie. So it's going to be eight seasons of this show. A lot of the online fodder conversation is that it's too early to do a TV show. The movies just came out like, I don't know. I'm down for it. I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, so I will watch like whatever they do. I also feel like getting to have an entire season of a show where I'm assuming each episode will be an hour, maybe like eight episodes, 10 episodes. That's like 10 hours where the movies were two and a half. So I feel like they'll be able to pull so much more from
the books and be able to put so much more detail into it. So I'm excited. Like I will be tuned in. I will be watching like my ass is on that couch come December 20, 26. I'm so in for that. That sounds amazing. And I'm excited. Like I think that's just a cool a cool thing to do. I know people are like make new shit like stop recycling shit like I'm in that camp. I agree. But at the same time, I'm like, yeah, I'm not going to not watch. That looks awesome. The trailer looks really good. The trailer just came out. Let's see what else.
Savannah Guthrie thing is so sad. That's all. I can't even talk about it.
Josh Felgoise (17:09.629)
Gwyneth Paltrow
Josh Felgoise (17:18.195)
I think that's it. Like some of these stories are so sad. just like, I think that's good. I think I hit it. Oh, the new daredevil show is coming out from Marvel. It looks so sick. John Bernthal, who I just saw on a Broadway play last week. He was so good. And he's gonna be in the Spider-Man. He was in the Spider-Man trailer. So he'll be in that movie too. Everything's coming up. John Bernthal and Stephen Colbert is writing the, this is interesting. Stephen Colbert is writing the Lord of the Rings movie.
That's coming out in 2027. So Stephen Colbert, who got laid off, got fired from his late night show job, is going to write a movie and it's going to be the Lord of the Rings Shadow of the Past. So that is actually kind of interesting news. I feel like that is, I don't know. I don't know what I think. I didn't think Stephen Colbert would write a movie next, but like cool career transition, bro. Okay, so those are the topics.
These are the things that you could talk about on your date. Nothing's that serious. Nothing's ever that deep. It's just a first date. Just get to know somebody. And you can also bring these conversation topics into your work. Talk about them with your coworkers, with your friends, with your family, just to keep you in the know. Keep you in the loop. That is the episode. Thank you so much for listening. You can find full episodes of this on at GuySet on YouTube, G-U-I-S-E-T. That's my other podcast. And it's just under that separate podcast feed, but the same YouTube channel, because the YouTube is a mess. And I just feel like it's easy to have it on both.
You can follow on Instagram at if you're going on a date and I will see you guys Monday for the next episode. Hope you have a great date and I will see you soon. Bye.
